Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
